Fruit Beers

Before the arrival of hops in Europe it was commonplace to flavour beer with herbs, spices or fruit. In Belgium fruit was traditionally added to lambic beer to counter it’s sourness. It is now commonplace to use other beers such as white beers or brown ales. Until recently these new beers were regarded as niche products for the ‘ladies’ & ‘children’s market’. Today most Belgian brewers will produce a full strength fruit style beer.
