Zwanze day is an annual event that Cantillon holds, in which they brew a small batch of an experimental beer and offer it for sale in a select group of pubs around the world. This beer is usually a different style each year, and is something other than a traditional Cantillon lambic.
Message from Cantillon
Here at Cantillon, we’re no strangers to experimentation.
In the early 50’s, Paul Cantillon tried blending Lambic and oranges. The result wasn’t exactly spectacular.
The refermentation in the bottles was so strong, that the brewery workers at the time were forced to sprint past the bottles through the cellar in order to avoid being hit by popping corks and drenched in beer.
Our grandfather Marcel Cantillon loved this story, and often loved to tell it to us as children.
So 70 years later, inspired by our great-grandfather, we’ve made a special blend of Lambic and citrus (a blend featuring mostly oranges) in his honor.
The acidity of the beer and the fruit and the freshness of the citrus in contrast to the bitterness of their zests makes for a particlarly thirst-quenching Zwanze.
The name Parasol will remind my fellow Belgians of a certain age of the orange-flavored soft-drink of the same name we used to drink back in the day.
This year’s Zwanze Day will be held on Saturday, September 25th.
The event will be worldwide once again, and a list of participating locatiosn will be published in August.
Santé
Come on down and try some great beers from this award winning brewery. Brewery give aways and tasters.
It is with huge sadness that we are forced once again suspended table bookings due to the very
large number of no shows.
Sunday 20th June, we have 25 inside bookings nearly half did not turn up. This meant we turned away customers who did turn up looking for some great food and drinks.
We have plenty of room inside and out so please come on down and support your local.
Thank you for your continued support.
You know The Dove has a great choice of world beers, but did you know we have a great range of cocktails too? Tell us which is your favourite if we have missed it out!
We are now screening all matches on a big screen, that are showing during our normal opening times. You can book a table up to a maximum of six people. Tables are all inside. Book now via this link.
We look forward to seeing all our very keen quizzers back again (especially Joel), we hope you are all in fine form. Booking essential use this link here
